RHONDA MURRAY

 

Rhonda Murray began her training in Auckland, New Zealand with Phillip Chatfield and Rowena Jackson and at the age of 12 she danced in a Gala Performance with the Royal New Zealand Ballet for Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Upon her arrival in the U.S., she continued her training at the Dallas Ballet Academy and Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, TX. Throughout her career, she has been a principal dancer with the Dallas Ballet, the New Jersey Ballet, and the Carolina Ballet in Raleigh, NC. She has danced a variety of leading roles in such ballets as La Bayadere, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, Christopher Wheeldon’s Movement Poem, and George Balanchine’s Serenade, Who Care’s?, and Donizetti Variations. Ms. Murray also was seen in a PBS production of Elaine Kudo’s Hush Little Baby and Lynne Taylor Corbett’s Triptych. She is presently on the faculty of The South Carolina Governer’s School of the Arts and Humanities in Greenville, SC. Rhonda teaches intermediate and advanced ballet and pointe.
